Last night, with performances by\u00a0New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Brain Holidays, and Bass Culture Sound System<\/strong>\u00a017th Seasplash Festival was opened at the St. Michael’s Fortress in \u0160ibenik. More than 50 artists and audience from all over Europe is coming to \u0160ibenik this week to join the 17th Seasplash Festival, which will be held from\u00a018th until 21st July<\/strong>, at Martinska pier, directly across the historic City of \u0160ibenik. One of the longest lasting Croatian festivals is changing its location for the first time, and opening a new chapter of the festival history.<\/p>\n

Lee “Scratch” Perry, Adrian Sherwood and Mad Professor<\/strong>\u00a0– a trio of still very active legends of dub and reggae music will perform on the main stage of the 17th Seasplash Festival, and Martinska, as the new venue for the festival, will host the world’s top bass music acts for its premiere. The Scientist, another dub star, was to join them, but unfortunately because of the impossibility of getting the European visa, his performance was canceled.<\/p>\n

Lee “Scratch” Perry, the Jamaican music icon arrives at Seasplash Festival for the first time in his 83 years of age, just one month after the release of the praised \u201cRainford\u201d album. Known for his collaborations with artists like Bob Marley, The Clash, Beastie Boys, this time he collaborated with a British producer and music genius Adrian Sherwood. On the main stage will also perform the ingenious dub producer Mad Professor. These three names, though different generations, are making a big contribution for the expansion and continued interest in dub and reggae music that does not stop to be popular among the young audience.<\/p>\n

In addition to the headliners, there are more legendary artists like the dub ska band\u00a0Dub Pistols<\/strong>, regional hip-hop ambassador\u00a0Edo Maajka<\/strong>, the leaders of British roots scene,\u00a0Vibronics<\/strong>, as well as over 40 other names on the bill. Besides the four Seasplash Festival stages there is also a free camp near the sea, a number of interesting daily workshops, a souvenir shop, a bazaar, a music quiz, a day and night boat line from \u0160ibenik, and the ArtSplash art colony that will refresh the Martinska location look. Seasplash Festival is one of the fstivals involved in the project of reconstruction of Martinska as a new festival destinations in cooperation with the City of \u0160ibenik, the Tourist Board and \u0160ibensko- Kninska County. In two summer months this promising location will host six festivals and one one-day event.<\/p>\n
