Banana Zvuk is a DJ / producer duo from Split, Croatia. Luka Barbić and Ivan Jurić – Yuri, Croatian Hip-Hop MC’s from regionally well established and popular bands TBF and ST!LLNESS, started Banana Zvuk as a side project in 2006.
Their debut album in 2018– “Split Banana” contains seven songs in versatile reggae styles, featuring some of the worlds best reggae performers – Tenor Fly, The Ragga Twins, Skarra Mucci, etc… The name of their album “Split Banana” is a word game that connects Banana Zvuk with the Croatian tourist center Split, which is also their hometown. Zvuk is literal translation of word sound and in this way they give homage to Reggae culture, but in a domestic way. “Split Banana” was nominated for Album of the Year by the prestigious European Reggae music portal Reggaeville.
They played some of the biggest festivals in Croatia, including Seasplash festival, Outlook festival, INmusic, Garden etc…The music they play is a blend of different Reggae styles, from Roots and Dancehall to Hip Hop and Jungle, remixes and mashups. What glues all together is a great amount of positive energy, love and good vibrations they spread through in sets.
The year 2020 was marked by the release of the compilation release “Re-Shake!” which includes remixes by local authors, as well as the author’s single “OPG” which was created in collaboration with Croatian musician Kandžija and receiving the Ambassador Award in the category of Best Dub/Reggae selectors in Croatia.
The beginning of 2021 is marked by a new collaboration with Reper iz sobe in the form of a reggae remix of his single “Dobro san”.
