Channel One Sound System is one of the UK’s best known and most loved reggae sound systems. Having taken over the running of their father’s sound in 1979, Mikey Dread and his brother Jah T took the sound to local blues parties and dances. Mikey played releases from the legendary Channel One studio in Jamaica, adopting the name of Channel One Sound System. In 1983, Channel One started playing at Notting Hill Carnival, their reputation and name grew from there. They are playing a unique selection of conscious reggae, exclusive dubplates and uplifting steppas, providing a rich heavyweight bass sound, which compliments their tight selection of old and new dub classics. They are a popular residency at one of London’s best clubs- Village Underground and touring central and south America – Chile, Colombia, Peru.
