ANTENAT

Their uptempo fusion self-proclaimed as Sub Reggae combines African polyrhythm grooves, reggae skanks, afrobeat brass lines, energy of ska, desert blues licks and dub’s sound aesthetics and it is impossible to ignore on the dancefloor. Along with lyrics celebrating nature and free spirits that call for choir singing from the audience. Antenat is really a story about friendship, the original five members of the band formed in 1997 while still in elementary school and their evolution since then is as evident as their strong personal relationship. Their first album Subing came out in 2006, followed by Karavana in 2008 both albums with strong foundation in reggae, ska and dub music. Their last album Izlet in 2013 broadened the bands horizons with major influence from the music of the African continent.

Antenat now consists of the five original members. Fronted by Nenad Kovačić, one of the most hardworking musicians and leading percussionist of the local scene. Drummer Bojan Horvat, an important figure of the punk rock scene, bass player Davor Barišić, guitar players Boris Vidošević and Marko Fiket. Alongside keyboard player Frederic Lanz, a Frenchman with a Croatian address, trumpet player Jura Borić and a saxophonist Mak Murtić, leading figure of the new Croatian jazz scene.

They’ve toured through France, Italy, Greece, Germany and played all throughout the ex-Yugoslavia region with performances on major festivals: In Music, Terraneo Festival, Ferragosto Jam and many others. In the last couple of years Antenat released several new singles announcing the new album which is highly anticipated.
