Macka B has always been interested in music. At a very young age he was impressed by the Lord Barley soundsystem. The lively reggae rhythm has found a place in his heart that has remained there to this day. He drew inspiration from reggae music, listening to greats like Burning Spear, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Count Ossie, to name a few. He started practicing DJ-ing at home getting inspiration from legends like U-Roy, I-Roy, Big Youth, Prince Far-I, etc. Also, at that time he embraced the Ras Tafari faith, which is a central part of his life. Together with a couple of friends, he started to run Exodus soundsystem. Visit to Jamaica in 1982 inspired him to greatly advance his talent. He was also in the band Pre-Wax with whom he performed live many times.
Seeing his TV appearance, Mad Professor invites him to join his record label Ariwa for which Macka B records and releases his debut album ‘Sign of the Times’ which ranks 1st place on the reggae top charts. During the 90’s Macka B released 8 more albums for the Ariwa label. He has also collaborated with other artists such as Nolan Irie, Earl 16, Horace Andy, Sandra Cross, Kofi, Brown Sugar, Steve Ital and Fish. Cat B has performed all over the world, including Japan, America, Africa, Hawaii, France, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Spain, Poland, etc. He has performed with artists such as Burning Spear, U- Roy, The Wailers, Kool and the Gang, Lee Perry, Culture, Gladiators and many others.
He became the first reggae artist to perform in the former Yugoslavia (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia). Macka B is one of the most important roots dub reggae authors, who greatly influenced the scene in the region, performing in the formative years of the scene, including performances at the Soča Reggae Riversplash Festival and releases published for the Slovenian label Reggaemania. He performed at the 7th edition of the Seasplash Festival, and the organization is looking forward to his new performance, at a new location.
In 2017 Macka B became a viral internet sensation with its Medical Mondays and Wha Me Eat posts on social media. The ‘Cucumba’ video gets 100 million views.
In 2020/2021 he releases ‘Gentrification EP’ with the hit song ‘Cucumba To Di World’ which was performed for the first time in India. His growing presence on social media with over 300,000 followers on Instagram and almost 500,000 Facebook followers
