Forming in Moss Side, Manchester, from members of Black Star Dub Collective and Manchester’s dub organizers Dub Reaktion, Conscious Youth started with the primary intention of being a studio project producing political digital dubs. Feeling inspired by sound system culture and the need to express their discontent with the social situation across the world Conscious Youth began work in the studio.
With songs such as ‘Onwards and Upwards’ (a positive plea for a brighter future), ‘Education’ (fighting words against the indoctrination of the education system) and the Eastern-inspired steppers of ‘Knowledge Through Nature’ and ‘Struggling Dub’ getting plays worldwide Conscious Youth decided it was time to take their message to the dance. Under the guidance of local legends Nucleus Roots, Conscious Youth is putting their experience as live musicians to good use and preparing a live set featuring live mixing, MC’s and musicians from their home turf and farther afield.
Conscious Youth is coming to a dance near you with heavy dubs, social lyrics, and positive vibrations. It’s time to move things forward.
