Our long-time friends Zion Train are coming to the last Seasplash Festival with a new studio album, after a long time we will see them in full line-up. Also, we are very proud to announce a series of artists who will make their first performance at the festival.
Festival stages at Martinska Šibenik from July 20th to 23rd will host numerous artists from around the world, region, and Croatia. Some are already well-known to the festival audiences, and many will be presented for the first time. All these musicians contributed to the establishment of the independent scene of Caribbean musical heritage, just like Seasplash. Mutual recognition, respect, and love between Seasplash and all artists are long-lasting and unbreakable.
Zion Train, the first and the last
The band members can rightly be called friends and part of the Seasplash family. The first performance of Zion Train at the first edition of the Seasplash Festival in 2003 was probably the first time that the local audience could witness the legendary performance, characterized by a ‘live dub mix’ performance in addition to vocal parts and a brass section. It was also the beginning of a long-term friendship and cooperation. To make the Seasplash Festival circle full, they are also performing at the last edition 21 years later. We are very pleased to conclude this great chapter with artists who have been with us from the very beginning.
These pioneers of the UK Dub & Sound System scene are characterized by continuity in their work, after a series of releases and performances, this band is on a world tour that never stops. That’s why they will come to Šibenik presenting the new album “Dissident Sound”, which will be released on June 20th. These days Zion Train is performing in a refreshed line-up, and we are especially glad that the band is returning to the MainSplash stage with a full line-up, after 10 years in this area.
Returning to the Seasplash with new materials
Among the artists that the audience of Seasplash had already had the opportunity to see are numerous artists, DJs, and Sound Systems who have earned their performance this year by constantly producing new sound and material. Among them is the unstoppable BarabaDub Sound System as well as two famous DJs who will now perform in a common back-to-back set Tricky D and Jin-San. This year Jan Becele will be joining us again, the favorite DJ of all fans of dance floors, as well as world-renowned turntablist and club DJ Venom u Šljiviku. Slavonija Vibes Syndicate brings its dub and reggae sounds from the plains of the eastern part of the country. From Sutivanc, a village in the Istria inlands, a lover of handmade sound systems, Vibration Addict, is coming to play his set. And the almost forgotten craft of turntablism will be presented by Groove Playaz. There is also a DUBMX dub master and BMX stunt specialist.
Premiering at Seasplash!
We are proudly presenting numerous artists and projects that will present their music at the 21st Seasplash Festival stages. Kenyan musician Fyah Son Bantu, the artist who has been active in his country since the early 2000s, at Martinska will present his dancehall and reggae repertoire. Dr. Obi meets Anja G, Roo T and Sistah Tena, the first time in this lineup, this unique quartet will present true women power phenomenon on the local dub and reggae scene. The band Šarena pojava coming from Sisak to present their combination of guitars and hip-hop. To the 21st Seasplash Festival is coming DJ Lionshine who is very is active on the Slovenian scene. Old Lady Sound System will present its analog, handmade, Sound System that is based in Ludbreg. An old friend of the festival, with a completely new artistic project Kalibal, will play his world-music selection. After years of actively participating in the scene through the media, Ras Padsystema started his career as a selector and gathered his own collective. Kordoom HiFi from Karlovac is organizing Dub Affair sessions and now will be guest on the last edition of the Seasplash Festival, just like the young Drum’n’Bass DJ from Lovran Boogie.
Day Zero of the Seasplash Festival
Wednesday, July 19th is Day Zero of the Seasplash Festival and will be held on one of the most beautiful open stages there is – on St. Michael’s Fortress in Šibenik. The main star of the Seasplash festival opening concert is one of the most respected and well-known European and world representatives of sound system culture, the British Iration Steppas. This world-known legend will perform with the support of local bands ABOP, and Bamwise, and the Cromaicanz dance group.
One-day, weekend, and festival tickets
Now are available festival (4-days) tickets with 1-day and weekend tickets. Let’s not forget our Seasplash Day Zero concert and party on July 19th at St.Michael Fortress in Šibenik, available are single tickets as well as packages – Day Zero plus festival tickets. We are proud to announce that on Monday, June 19th, Seasplash Festival will present a full festival line-up. On the same day, Seasplash Festival will present new ticket prices.
