Dance Friday is scheduled to open the event on March 30th, and will see Zagreb’s All Stars DJs taking over the decks. Some of Zagreb’s best-known names – who have helped define the city’s scene – such as Felver, Sergej and Ivona Kovačević, will be those kick-off this special event in the brewery’s front yard. Joining them will be Grim (all the way from Ibiza), as well as the brewery’s residents, Nick & Pepi.

Dub Saturday is reserved for the iconic Jamaican music producer and innovator Lee Scratch Perry. One of the genre’s signature names, he is rightfully said to be one of the longest active and most original reggae producers and artists of all time. He will be joined by fellow dub legend Mad Professor – one of the top names in both the UK and world dub scene – for a live performance. There will also be more from local masters Dubolik & Lo Peaks, Dr. Obi & Anja G and roots, dub and bass rhythms from One Dread (an amazing cover band), and Bass Culture Sound System – Zagreb’s most established reggae crew.

Sunday is all about hip-hop and will see a live performance from the universally acclaimed rapper Pharoahe Monch of Queens, New York – an artist whose complex lyrics, advanced rhyme schemes and unique delivery continue to set him apart within the hip-hop game. Liverpool’s No Fakin DJs – one of leading promoters/acts of the genre in the UK scene – will bring out the vinyl treasure alongside the Mad Nice collective. Local hip-hop authority Phat Phillie will also add to the day with his selections, and Croatian Funk Delegation – proper vinyl diggers – will bring out the mighty funk and soul.

The Garden and Pozitivan ritam teams have been building the festival scene here for more than a decade, with events spread throughout Dalmatia and Istria thoroughly positioning Croatia on the world festival map. After many years of friendship, this project marks the first time these two teams have collaborated, and it’s hoped that the event will only add to Zagreb’s growing reputation as one of the must see cities in Europe.

The weekend will also serve as a launch for many of the festival events happening in Croatia over the course of the summer season, including Seasplash, Outlook, Dimensions, Slurp!, Love International, Defected Croatia, Dekmantel, Soundwave, Suncebeat and Hospitality.

Connecting knowledge and heritage and bringing together artists that have been a part of the story from the beginning, it is hoped that A Weekend Block Party will help in creating a vibrant new festival scene right in the heart of the capital.
