Asian Dub Foundation to headline 18th Seasplash Festival!

1st Line-up

This summer the Seasplash Festival returns to Martinska, Šibenik, to celebrate its coming of age. Introducing all bass music and promoting soundsystem culture, Seasplash has been a real treat for all fans of reggae, dub, drum’n’bass, dancehall, jungle, ska and other related electronic music for the last 18 years.

We are more than excited to announce that the main headlining act this year will be the one and only Asian Dub Foundation, who are a genre unto themselves since their inception in the nineties

Their unique combination of tough jungle rhythms, dub basslines and wild guitar overlaid by references to their South Asian roots and militant high-speed rap has established them as one of the best live bands in the world. During their long and productive career, Asian Dub Foundation have shared the stage with the likes of Rage Against The Machine, the Beastie Boys and Primal Scream also collaborating on record with the likes of Radiohead, Sinead O’ Connor, Iggy Pop and Chuck D.

In 2020 the band are set to release their 9th album “Access Denied” which finds them as uncompromising as ever. The album showcases ADF in full-spectrum mode from the tough Jungle Punk sound to the orchestral meditation and the reggae lament. With guest spots from Greta Thunberg, incendiary Palestinian shamstep warriors 47 Soul, Chilean revolt’s rap main figure Ana Tijoux and radical UK comedian Stewart Lee, Asian Dub Foundation continue their sonic opposition to the power!

Besides Asian Dub Foundation, we are revealing 14 more acts, both regional and international, who are showing all the wideness and diversity of the Seasplash programme.

First, we have Pitch Black who pumped their way through New Zealand’s electronic music scene since their inaugural performance at the annual Gathering New Year’s eve festival in 1996. They have spent the subsequent years rousing dance floor punters, generating rave reviews, winning awards and gaining thousands of fans across the world. Hard to box into a single audio ‘genre’, Pitch Black is a combination of musical journeys. Their sound is distinctive; ranging from organic ambient beginnings and layered soundscapes to skanking keyboards, cutting acid riffs and thumping rhythmic grooves, with dub being the glue that holds their sound together.

Also coming back to our fest is Egoless, Croatian dubstep producer who’s impact crossed regional borders a long time ago. In 2019 he performed more than 50 gigs on three continents. He played an American tour from New York to Toronto, he did a tour in India, he played in Fabric and Steel Yard in London and had two impressive performances at last years Outlook festival in Pula.

Kandžija is an exquisite MC and lyricist, with unique style and humor. His new album “Plafon” (2019) has achieved remarkable reviews in less than a month. Judging by the online reactions and music critics, this is not only one of the best albums of the year, but also generally the strongest Kandžija release in his career.

Filip Motovunski is another great act with a unique career trajectory. Always a guarantee for a massive drum and bass party!

After a lengthy hiatus, St!llness are making their comeback! This appearance will mark the turning in the career of a band that has undoubtedly ruled the domestic scene with its expressive reggae, rock, hip hop crossover. From France we are bringing Iron Dubz to Martinska. Played by the biggest sounds around the globe, his tracks range from powerful digital reggae to heavy dub stepper, specifically designed for soundsystem! Digitron will be there too! The most famous soundsystem in the region and the first soundsystem in Croatia!

Who else is comming?! Roots In Session, Dubmission Records’ head honcho Crazy Baldhead, Aklea Neon, Baraba Dub Sound Kolektiv, Inka, Sista Salute and our very own Seasplash Crew.

As a new festival site, Martinska has become home to many fans of bass music genres from the region and across Europe. At the very entrance of the Šibenik channel, and with a beautiful view on the City of Šibenik, in the thick pine forest right by the sea, Martinska left only a few indifferent last summer.

In July, we will enjoy a number of artists on four festival stages, a rich daily program of free workshops, a festival beach, a bazaar, a record and merchandise store, and a festival camp. Seasplash in Šibenik is ideal for all people driven by goodwill and a love for music.
